Art Update

I've decided to start working harder to be an artist rather than just complain about how little time I have to create. I have submitted a proposal for a local gallery to produce a show called "You Can't See the Forest", yeah it's all about trees but I figure - play my strengths.

I have one piece I'm working on, well one piece made up of 45 smaller 8x10 canvases that will be hung together to create one giant artwork. Oils again - I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this medium again - so it's time consuming but I'm excited!

This is a sketch of what I hope the finished piece will resemble:

Yeah I don't have anything better to do with my time!!!

I'll keep posting as I finish each painting....oh one more...I've entered a competition through the local electricity company with a theme of "Drawn to Nature" This is my submission:

Just Three

I've started painting in oils again, I love the medium but hate waiting weeks for each layer to dry...I'm still not quite sure if this first piece is finished yet... (24x30 inches)

This one is acrylic, I wanted to see how the colours looked together and may end up doing a larger version of this (11x14 inches)

Mmmmmm Magnolia...

I've just completed painting a mural at a dear friend's place, it's halfway up the stairs (and the stair where I sit..)

We were going for large and subtle and I think we pulled it off. I know that I'm really proud of this one!!

The hallway light needed to be vaguely incorporated so I lined up the centre of the flower so that the light could be seen as a stamen if needed to be

















And this should give a pretty good idea of scale!

Saturday was a very successful day, sitting in the sunshine surrounded by family, friends and art lovers...here are a few pictures from the fair. I need to get working on next year now!!

Sketching

I've been in the mood to draw lately and have gone a bit nuts. First one of the gnarley trees, I'm so comfortable drawing these I think I can do them in my sleep now!
















I finally found the courage to add colour to one of my big sketches. I'm wondering why it took so long, I'm SO proud of this little guy!!

ACEO Art Show

The evening was beyond awesome and on opening night every artist had sold something. You can't argue that!

The show runs from Friday July 13th through to Saturday the 21st.
